Ingomar R. Walter, a trained banker, first encountered the commercial side of stamp collecting over 52 years ago as chairman of new releases for a philatelic society and soon turned his hobby into a profession. Since 1970, he has owned the renowned Philatelie Walter AG retail store in Zurich. Today, he is president of the International Federation of Stamp Dealers (IFSD).
His private collecting interests include German South West Africa.
Today, rationalization and electronic market management have become the norm in the stamp trade as well. Despite, or perhaps because of, the resulting anonymity, the increasingly rare brick-and-mortar store in a prime pedestrian location is experiencing something of a renaissance. This is the experience of Ingomar R. Walter, whose modernly furnished shop is located directly on Zurich's Bellevueplatz. Discerning customers, sometimes unsettled by a certain leveling of philately, are once again appreciating personal advice and the opportunity to inspect stamps or specimens from the shop's extensive inventory without obligation.
For the special philatelic or postal history items that Ingomar R. Walter specifically recommends to customers, also for reasons of value preservation, direct contact between the buyer and the experienced specialist is essential. It goes without saying that Philatelie Walter AG simultaneously offers a global new issues service (by subscription or from stock), maintains a mail-order business, and presents a wide range of philatelic accessories and specialist literature. The range of services offered is as diverse as the needs of its customers.
We hope to welcome you one day. The staff and I will be happy to accommodate your requests and fulfill them if possible.
